What our clients say about us

“The prospect of working out how we could extend our home in a way that would give us the space we needed whilst adhering to planning regulations in a conservation area was a daunting one, but working with Richard through the whole planning process has been a pleasure. In the first instance he had the patience to listen to our ideas both in person and on the phone, and we were amazed by the level of detail that went in to realizing our vision. Fit Architects’ service exceeded our (very high) expectations and we wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Richard to friends, family and anyone else who needs a highly creative and diligent architect – someone whom we now consider a friend.”

– Giles Badger, Bristol

“Now that the build is starting to take shape and the plans are becoming a reality, I just wanted to get in touch to thank you again for all your efforts towards helping us understand what could be achieved in this house. I don't think we'd have got this anywhere near this far without your knowledge, skill, attention to detail and patience.”

- David Spencer, Bristol

“Our first contact with Richard from Fit Architects was out of shear frustration after several months of fruitless meetings and discussions with local architects, planning specialists and my local planning office. The land we wanted to develop was part of my current home a 19th Century period cottage in an area of outstanding natural beauty on the world renowned Cotswold Way with a impenetrable village boundary abutting Greenbelt. We had been told by two local architects and a planning specialist that what we wanted to achieve would be impossible. Obviously it was going to be a huge challenge. From the onset Richard was totally engaged and explained the obstacles we would have to overcome. Richard was calm collected considered and very methodical. As issues arose Richard calmly dealt with them mindful of costs. The various planning meetings were fraught, but thankfully Richard was not. His resolve was solid, calm and in control - something we will be eternally grateful for. Our design briefs were handled with great care and we never felt that our desires were being railroaded by overt “design” as we have experienced in the past. Richard had interpreted our brief with almost telepathic results. The design is 100% what we wanted and is totally magical. To conclude Richard is one of the nicest gentlemen you could wish to meet. He is cool, calm, always in control and totally unflappable. His skill as an architect in interpreting planning law, local nuances, and achieving planning in less than favourable locations is totally proven in our case. All this he does with very good humour. Thank you Richard for your endless optimism your cool and collected nature - you are world class at what you do.”

– Adam & Jayne Offer, Old Sodbury

Our focus is on providing a professional service that brings excellent value to every project.

Whatever the project, we offer a free initial consultation to discuss your plans and advise where we might best be of use.

We provide the full range of Architectural Services through all the RIBA stages and are happy to break this down to enable you to use us only where we bring the most value.

We understand that every project represents a major investment and therefore we manage the budget wisely, always designing within cost constraints.

We will work with you to see a project all the way through to its completion, or alternatively obtain statutory approvals such as Planning Permission or Building Regulations approval and let you take it from there.

Our approach

We believe that good design has an important part to play in all our lives and should be applied to every project, whether large or small, whether for a homeowner or professional developer, a local authority or community group.

Our approach is collaborative, based primarily on the importance of listening to our clients and identifying with their aspirations. At all stages of the design process we aim to communicate our ideas to you with clarity through drawings, sketches and models.

We also see it necessary to offer a vision that is inspirational, through the use of precedents, to open up the options available.

We are thoughtful and creative in our approach to all projects and our proposals are all strongly contextual, arising from a response to the unique character of each site, the particular demands of the brief and the exploration of a number of options before settling on any one solution. This is underpinned with a real commitment to finding more sustainable ways of living.

Above all, we believe that good design should have honesty and integrity at its heart - creating buildings and places of today for tomorrow that delight, stimulate and inspire all who come into contact with them.
